How to Block Adware Popups

Adware pop ups can often be very irritating and distracting. Sometimes, you end up not getting your real work done because you spent an inordinate amount of time dealing with these annoying pop ups. It is usually easy to eliminate these problems and there are a number of ways to tackle them.

Blocking adware pop ups is not usually something you need to be a computer expert to do. The options to do it are in the computer settings a should be able to be adjusted to get rid of them. If the system has been infected by spyware, the problem may be more difficult to deal with.

The privacy settings need to be adjusted if adware pop ups are required to be blocked. Navigate to the Control Panel on your computer first of all. There should be an Internet Options icon, which you click on then select the Privacy tab. There you should see “Turn on Pop Up Blocker” with a box. Simply tick this box and you are done, assuming there are no problems with adware infection. It is also possible to add a little extra security during browsing the web. The toolbars from MSN and Google can be downloaded and added to the browser, which increases security.

If the computer is infected with adware/spyware, these simple measures will not be enough to block adware pop ups. It is most likely that changing the settings will have no effect and the annoying pop ups will continue to appear.

If you find that the home page on your web browser has altered or been hijacked, it is a sign that there is adware on the computer. The system has been infected by malicious applications, which need to be removed. Spyware removal programs can be found to do this, such as AdwareAlert, Ad-Aware SE, Spyboy Search and Destroy, HiJack, IE-SPYAD.

The Add or Remove Programs options in the control panel can also be used to remove any applications, which you suspect are spyware. If you are really stuck for a solution and cannot get the problem fixed, then it may be time to recruit a professional. However, these problems can usually be sorted out relatively easily yourself.
